Jeju Stone Park

I visited Jeju Stone Park after climbing Mount Hallasan, having several extra days to fill during my stay on Jeju Island. Searches for Jeju attractions repeatedly surfaced images of distinctive stone sculptures: "Somewhat chubby looking men with hats carved out of volcanic rock."

The park, located approximately 30-45 minutes from Jeju City by bus, features both original and recreated stone sculptures made from volcanic rock. Beyond the famous statues, the site includes recreated traditional villages, multiple museums, and various stone arrangements with historical significance.

The sculptures have an Easter Island sort of feel to them due to being rock structures on an island. I recommend visiting during summer months for a better experience—it serves as an ideal way to spend a gap day while in the area.

The post includes numerous photographs from the visit, with additional images available on Flickr.
